Treatment For COPD - BioMarck Pharmaceuticals Awarded $990,000 Grant By National Institutes Of Health
BioMarck Pharmaceuticals, Ltd. announced today that it has received a $990,000 grant from the National Institutes of Health, specifically the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute. BioMarck will use the grant funds to support its ongoing BREATH 1 study, a Phase 2 clinical study of the safety and efficacy of BIO-11006 Inhalation Solution to treat chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). The award is part of a three-year, $3 million grant awarded to BioMarck in 2005.

"BioMarck is pleased to announce the continued support from the NIH. Combined with the more than $6 million that BioMarck has raised in its Series C round, BioMarck has sufficient funds to continue its development efforts for the foreseeable future, including completion of the BREATH 1 clinical study," said Ted Murphy, Vice President of Research and Development for BioMarck.

The BREATH 1 study (BIO-11006: Respiratory Effectiveness of A Targeted Therapeutic) is a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, multicenter Phase 2 study in which participants will be administered one of three doses of BIO-11006 or placebo for 21 days.
